Tags and organization
Crossbill has two ways to categorize highlights: tags, which you create, and labels, which come from your e-reader’s highlight styles.
A tag is a category you add to highlights and notes. Each tag belongs to one book. If you use the same word in two books, they are two separate tags.
- Add tags to a highlight in its dialog, or to a note while you edit it. If the tag does not exist yet, Crossbill creates it.
- The book’s tags are listed alphabetically in the sidebar of the Highlights, Notes and Flashcards tabs. Click a tag to filter the list. Click it again to clear the filter.
Tag groups
Section titled “Tag groups”A tag group is a named set of a book’s tags. Use groups when a book has many tags.
- To create a group, choose Add a new group in the sidebar and give it a name.
- To add or remove tags in a group, choose Edit tags on the group.
- To move a tag to another group or out of its group, right-click or long-press the tag.
- Groups are listed by name. Tags without a group are under Ungrouped.
You can rename or delete a group. Deleting a group keeps its tags.
Tags and labels
Section titled “Tags and labels”A label is the name you give a highlight style, the colour or drawing style you used on the device.
| Tag | Label | |
|---|---|---|
| Where it comes from | You create it in Crossbill | Your e-reader’s highlight style |
| How many per highlight | As many as you like | At most one |
| Scope | One book | One book or all books |
To name or recolour a label, click the coloured dot on a highlight. See Highlights.
